The Mahabharata has always been a source of wonder to me, beautifully composed and filled with stories that take your breath away. I agree it's so underutilised and I'd love to see a big budget production.
We need to look at the wonders China is creating, DeepSeek R1, aircrafts and missiles (that downed that very Rafael fighter jet which was marked with Swastik with full Hindu rituals by defence minister himself)and like, while it was neck to neck with India in 1979-82. I think gods of other religions were not happy with that because on paper we are a secular country.
I quote “The real barriers are a lack of imagination in Western storytelling circles, a desire to seek and understand these complex stories, and a persistent colonial hangover that treats non-Western narratives as "ethnic" rather than universal.” All these faults that you are counting about Hollywood are also deeply imbibed in India by RSS/BJP network in last 100 years. So you need to look at yourself first.
Why no Indian could make a film like Matrix in last 75 years?
If it was originally with you then why our directors, musicians were copy pasting songs and films from Arab nations and western countries to make hit film like Sholey? There are at least fifty channels that are showing piracy by noted award winning Indian Directors, music and film both!
Wonderfully written for the Western world
Anyone, specially Savarnas, can write bad about others.

Agreed Tejal! I return to reading it periodically because there are so many wonderful stories in it.

In my opinion instead of Mahabharat, Indian Savarnas need to read this book https://joshuto.substack.com/p/meet-the-savarna-ravikant-kisana?r=1gxdhi
